AS PINK CAMPUS REPRESENTATIVES, WE ARE CHARGED WITH THE INTERVIEWING, SELECTION, AND MANAGEMENT OF THE PINK CAMPUS TEAM. I BELIEVE THAT THE SUCCESS AND HAPPINESS OF OUR TEAM MEMBERS IS OF LARGE IMPORTANCE BECAUSE IT IS THEIR PASSION FOR PINK THAT WILL MOVE THEM UP THE LADDER TO BECOME REPS ONE DAY. I WOULD KNOW, I MYSELF WAS ONCE JUST A CAMPUS TEAM MEMBER!
WHAT HAVE I LEARNED IN THIS LEADERSHIP POSITION?
IT MAY PROVE DIFFICULT AT TIMES TO HOLD THAT 50/50 RELATIONSHIP WITH YOUR TEAM; ESPECIALLY WHEN THERE IS CLOSE TO NO AGE GAP. WE MUST FIND A BALANCE BETWEEN FRIEND & MANAGER, AND MAKE SURE THERE IS MUTUAL RESPECT AS WELL AS POSITIVE REGARD FOR EACHOTHER. WE AID THIS BY EMPHASIZING THE ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE TEAM MEMBER, FILLING OUR TEAM WITH NEW FACES AND MINDS EACH SEMESTER, AND EQUALLY RESPECTING THE DIFFERENT TYPES OF WORK EACH OTHER IS DOING.

YOUR TEAM IS THERE FOR A REASON! AS A REPRESENTATIVE IT IS SOMETIMES EASY TO WANT TO CONTROL EVERY ASPECT OF OUR MARKETING & EVENT PLANNING EFFORTS; HOWEVER WE MUST UNDERSTAND THAT IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO BE A SOLOIST WHEN THE AMOUNT OF WORK TO GET DONE REQUIRES AN ORCHESTRA. LEARNING TO DELEGATE TASKS TO THOSE WHO WANT TO HELP WILL SHOW YOUR TRUST, RESPECT, AND CONFIDENCE IN THE TEAM. THEY MADE IT THROUGH THE INTERVIEW PROCESS, SO WE MUST HAVE FAITH IN THEIR WORK.

WHEN PLACING YOUR TEAM INTO ROLES, CONSIDER WHERE THEIR PASSIONS LIE. THE LAST THING YOU WANT IS A TEAM MEMBER WHO MAY BE GOOD AT WHAT THEY DO BUT ABSOLUTELY HATES THEIR WORK. YOU HAVE TO GET THE RIGHT PEOPLE IN THE RIGHT PLACES SO THEY COULD MAXIMIZE THEIR JOB SATISFACTION AND PRODUCTIVITY. IF A TEAM MEMBER FEELS STUCK IN A POSITION THEY MAY NOT CONTRIBUTE THEIR BEST WORK, OR WORSE LOSE PASSION FOR THE PROGRAM AS WHOLE. TO AID THIS, ASK QUESTIONS, CONSIDER THEIR FEEDBACK, AND PAY ATTENTION TO THE RESPONSIBILITIES THEY APPEAR TO RESPOND BEST TO.
